    Question from @drkaplanowmintegrativewellness-com @drkaplanowmbuffalo-com :

I had a question from a patient about either bruising or petechia formation with Pentosan. Last time she used Pentosan was a month ago but is still getting new lesions. Any way the mild anticoagulant effect can last that long?

Hi @drhusaininterlinkedmd-com, @byurthgmail-com and @drkriswyahoo-com, would love to have your thoughts here. Thank you! 🙂

The half-life of pentosan polysulfate is short and should be long out of their system by then.  I believe it is less than 6 hours.

Are the lesions systemic or at the site of injection?  Any other changes in meds?

    Dr Kaplan,

I have not seen this with use of Pentosan. Certainly there can be slight bruising immediately after the injection, but I do not believe the bruising a month later would be caused by Pentosan. I have found it to be extremely effective with little to no adverse events in my practice.

I have used Pentosan quite a bit with my geriatric population with no adverse reactions except injection site soreness. I have found it to be a very effective peptide in my practice.

Thanks for your input! Lesions are on the legs, distant from site of injection.

Seems to be a combination of bruising and petechia. No change in meds.

She’s got an  eval with a hematologist coming up.

I recently started a client on Pentosan. She does have easily bruising prior to Pentosan. Also is a frequent Nsaid (Ibuprofen) user, which we held for PPS admin.

She injected 125mg 50 units and had a very disturbing hematoma form at the site of injection.  Black and blue and painful has improved after 3 days.

What is this related to? Should this client continue?
